The Maine is a river, a tributary of the Loire, 12 km 7 Miles long, in the Maine et Loire departement in France. It is formed by the confluence of the Mayenne & the Sarthe rivers north of Angers. It flows through this city & joins the Loire south west of Angers. The rivers name is derived from the ancient Meodena & is unrelated to Maine the province.
