The Canal de la Charente in La Seudre, also known as the Canal de la Bridoire1 is a canal located in the south west part of the departement of Charente Maritime Region New Aquitaine. It is a junction channel between the Charente & the Seudre. With a total length of 27 kilometers it connects the towns of Marennes & Saint Hippolyte Nr Rochefort via 3 locks to SAS & 3 guard gates. The main collector of the swamp of brewing is the longest canal in Charente Maritime. Originally designed to connect the town of Rochefort & the Great arsenal of the then 1 of the most important of the kingdom to the place strong of brewing via the brewing channel, it was extended to Marennes & the Seudre estuary in the 19 century.
The canal is a spot used by water sports enthusiasts stand up paddle, kayak, etc. & its surroundings have been partially arranged in pedestrian promenade & bicycle path. Carp, Chub, Catfish, Bream, Tench, Roach, Perch, Zander & Pike.
